Even though we are starting to see more activities go back to normal, the stress level during the pandemic remains high. Mindfulness is one way to help manage stress. There are three major ways to incorporate mindfulness into the day. First, and most often recommended, is to do a meditation once a day. People tend to do this practice at a roughly similar time each day, likely in the morning or evening depending on your routine. A few minutes of breathing can be used at any point during the day to help you to feel present and to slow down. You can also set a timer for a few minutes and spend that time breathing or doing some gentle stretching. Finally, you can practice mindfulness when doing certain activities. For example, when brushing your teeth, you can pay attention to sensations of tooth brushing, clearing the mind and focusing on that activity alone. The same applies for washing the dishes or doing the laundry. You can even have morning coffee mindfully-by not doing anything else other than taking a quiet moment to enjoy it.
